large party of 43 ramblers along the Mawddach Trail. The day was made

very enjoyable day. Ian Spencer.
Sunday 18th March 2012. Mynydd Maentwrog, Gold Mine. Tecwyn Williams
led a party of 15 members on a ramble from Tomen y Mur over the Mynydd

capped in snow. They continued until they met "The Ten Mile Road"and
then returned to Beddgelert alongside Llyn Dinas. Ian Spencer.
Thursday 23rd February 2012. Footpaths of Sarn Meyllteyrn.
Miriam and Tony Heald led a party of 33 members from Sarn Meyllteyrn.

after by the Friends of the Friendless Churches. Ian Spencer.

already
covering the mountains. They then climbed up Foel Goch from the Bwlch
and continued over Fron Gron before heading for the summit of Moel
Eilio. Then returned, descending in a northerly direction, to Llanberis.

the sun made all too rare appearances the mountains of Snowdonia looked
at their very best. Ian Spencer.
Thursday 9th February 2012. Mynydd Nefyn & Beaches. Maureen
Evans led a party of 22 members on a walk from Nefyn. Despite a disappointing
day
with
low cloud and with at
times poor visibility the walk took them on an interesting series of
paths by Mynydd Nefyn to the foot of Moel Ty Gwyn before returning to
Nefyn. The walkers then followed the Cliff Path before turning inland
using Lon Tyn Pwll to reach Morfa Nefyn. From here the walk returned
cross country to Nefyn again. A jolly good walk it was voted by all who
took part. Ian Spencer.
Sunday 5th February 2012. Moel Ddu. Tecwyn Williams
led 13 ramblers from Pont Aberglaslyn, steeply up through the woods above
Aberglaslyn Hall and then they continued steadily climbing to the summit
of Moel Ddu where they had a picnic lunch. It was slippery with the
remains of the snowfall underfoot as they continued across country
to Tremadog. The walk although fairly short was considered to have
been quite tough. Ian Spencer.
Thursday 26th January2012. Coastal Path & NCI Watch Station.
The party of 23 ramblers was led by Megan Mentzoni from Edern. This smashing
walk followed the coastal path
back to Porthdinllaen where they were able to see and look around the
Coastal Watch Station manned by volunteers. They then picnicked on the
beach before continuing on the coastal path. The walkers headed inland
into Morfa Nefyn and thence across fields and some very muddy stretches
of footpaths into Edern. The weather was sunny but very windy.
On the same day, in the evening, the Club held it's Winter Dinner
at Porthmadog Golf Club. The excellent meal was followed by
an enchanting talk given by Dafydd Davies-Hughes. He spun many whimsical

in aid of The Air Ambulance
Service. This raised £126.00. Ian Spencer.

Judith Thomas in her own joyous style, ably assisted by Catrin Williams,
led 18 members
on a walk
from Trefor.
They followed the coast round Trwyn y Tal before making the steep ascent
to Bwlch yr Eifl. From here they walked around Yr Eifl and Tre'r Ceiri
mountains before returning to the Trefor Harbour car park. This splendid
walk was not marred by the damp low cloud which later cleared to reveal
the green pastures, woodlands and hills of Southern Llyn. Ian Spencer.

Nick White nobly stood in for the indisposed Colin White. He led 15 members

led a party of 11 ramblers, from Llyn Celyn, up the seldom visited or
climbed Mynydd
Nodol.
The weather
improved as the day progressed after what had been a very stormy night.
They crossed some marshy ground then followed the former railway track,
before ascending Mynydd Nodol. It is trackless on the Western side, but
covered in thick heather right up to the summit cairn so progress was
tough. The walkers then descended on a rough track down the Eastern side
of the mountain before making their way to the Llyn Celyn Dam. Ian Spencer.
Thursday 17th November 2011. Nant Gwynant, Craflwyn Estate.
32 members led by Kath Mair had a very enjoyable walk from Bethania Car

Dafydd Williams led 14 members, on a glorious sunny day, along the final

Fan
[Crown of Thorns] This was a longish, but magnificent walk. Ian Spencer.

Gwyddel and Mynydd Mawr before crossing back across the Peninsular to

fine and sunny. Ian Spencer.
Sunday 30th October 2011. Penamnen Horseshoe. Ian Spencer
led a party of 17 members from Dolwyddelan up along the banks of the
stream
before climbing up the drovers track to the summit of Y Ro Wen. It was
a misty day with just short glimpses of the beautiful scenery. There
was
also a very strong headwind for the first half the walk, which continued
around the ridge before ascending Moel Penamnen. The walkers returned
to Dolwyddelan but not before they completed the steep descent through
the forest. The walk although quite long was enjoyed by all. On the
same
day Dafydd Williams led a small party of 7 ramblers also from Dolwyddelan.
Ian Spencer.

On a very misty day with low cloud, Marian Hopkins and Ann Jones led a

but very satisfying walk. On Thursday 6th October the Club's party of
29 members was led by the Chairman Meirion Owen on a delightful woodland
walk by the Coed Cae Valley. Ian Spencer.
Thursday 22nd September 2011. Dinas Dinlle – Fort Belan-Y
Foryd. Pam Foster led 32 members from Dinas Dinille on a fine
dry day. This was a most interesting walk in an area seldom if ever visited
by most of those taking part. During the walk they visited Fort Belan
situated at the entry to the Menai Straits. The fort was evidently built
in Napoleonic times to defend the Straits. It still has many of its canons
in place. Ian Spencer.
Sunday18th September 2011. Tal y Bont to Harlech Ardudwy Way.
Eight hardy ramblers, led by Dafydd Williams, undertook the middle section
of the new Ardudwy Way between Barmouth and Llandecwyn. This was officially

3 stages namely from Barmouth to Talybont 7 miles; Talybont to Harlech
approximately 13 miles and Harlech to Llandechwn which is 11 miles. Sunday

Thursday 8th September 2011. Moelfre (Dyffryn Ardudwy).
Nick White led a group of 16 on a 5.5 mile walk through the wild and remote
moorland around Moelfre, high above Dyffryn Ardudwy. In spite of the pervasive
mist and waterlogged ground, the rain held off and the party enjoyed the
walk, catching occasional glimpses of Cwm Nantcol and admiring the remarkable
dry stonewalling characteristic of the area. Noel Davey.
Sunday 4th September 2011. Moel Hebog. Hugh Evans led
a first class walk of about 8.5 miles from Beddgelert up Moel Hebog and
on to Moel yr Ogof and Moel Lefn, returning via interesting forest tracks
and paths through Cwm Meillionen. The bright weather most of the day guaranteed
fine views and light rain set in only towards the end of the walk. Noel
Davey. Thursday 25th August 2011. Cwm Cynfal. Ann and Nick
White led a party of 19 down into the very beautiful Cwm Cynfal. The views

showers. A very nice short walk. Ian Spencer.
Sunday 21st August 2011. Nantlle Ridge. Noel Davey
led 11 members from Dolbenmaen Church on a strenuous walk to the Nantle
Ridge. Sadly it was a day when the weather was atrocious with very heavy
rain and low cloud all morning and into the early afternoon when it finally
cleared. They all gallantly completed the walk safely with just one minor
mishap when one member sliped and fell into a swollen river.
On the same day Ian Spencer led a party of 8 on a short walk from the
head of Cwm Penant. Despite the weather all remained cheerful even when
following a bridleway clearly marked but non existant on the ground. Ian
Spencer.

Thomas led a party of 9 walkers on an enjoyable 7 mile walk from the head

down the steep old mining track back to the valley. A lovely day with
good views, in spite of intermittent showers. We recovered after in the
Red Lion at Dinas Mawddwy. Noel Davey. |
